BIO

Koi Neng Liew was born and raised in Singapore, and began his artistic training studying oil painting at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. In 1999, he was accepted into The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2001. Following his Bachelors degree, he was accepted into the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and received his Master of Fine Arts Degree in 2005.

Liew is the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships; he was awarded the Roswell Artist in Residence grant in 2008, and was a Taunt Fellow at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana. He is a featured artist in the Clay Art International Yearbook published in Athens, Greece, and has exhibited both nationally and internationally in Canada, The United States, Singapore and China.

In 2010, he moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta to continue his career as a full time studio artist at the Medalta International Artists in Residence. Most recently, Liew began teaching sculpture and drawing in the Visual Communications Department at Medicine Hat College and began his faculty appointment fall, 2015.
